Friary Church
A place of
Devotion and Mercy
In Hawthorn, Melbourne, the Capuchin Friars operate the Friary Church dedicated to St Anthony of Padua. Built in the 1960s with the generous participation of the Italian community, it is a beautiful sanctuary of prayer, devotion, and mercy. It is not a parish church, instead serving as a particular centre of evangelisation and popular piety. For over 50 years the Capuchin friars have ministered to the people, hearing confessions, celebrating Holy Mass, and offering spiritual direction. St Anthony's also serves as the student house of the province, and a base for other ministries and youth work within the Archdiocese of Melbourne.
The Friary Church is found at 182 Power St, Hawthorn, 3122.
